Hendo from BrewCult in Victoria
What beer are you making for GABS?
An imperial milk stout with coffee from Axil Coffee Roasters, Melbourne.
What’s it called?
Milk and Two Sugars.
Where did the inspiration come from?
I really wanted to do a milk stout during 2014 but the brewing schedule got the better of me and it never eventuated. So when thinking of an idea for GABS 2015 I wanted to put that idea back on the table and in true GABS form, turn it up a notch. So by upping the ABV and bringing coffee into the mix, I think we’ll be creating a beer that matches GABS as well as the BrewCult history of doing food-based dark beers for the festival.
This will be the 3rd food-inspired GABS beer with Acid Freaks Balsamic Baltic Porter and Pepper Steak Porter up our sleeve.
For those who might over-indulge, do you have a suggestion for a post-GABS hangover remedy?
I would always suggest not over-indulging in the first place. Although there are over 120 brand new beers on offer at GABS, it’s unlikely that one could try them all during the festival. Milk and Two Sugars will be released in bottle after GABS.
If you were to over-indulge, my remedy of lots of water and Hydralite work a treat.
Finally, finish this sentence, craft beer is …
… really fucking awesome.
The Great Australasian Beer Spectapular is at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne on May 22-24 and Australian Technology Park, Sydney on May 30.
