Number 1: This tweet from Ale of a Time
Yeah, sure, it was yesterday (or today if you’re reading this from the other side of the world) but you can still make up for things by having a stout float tonight.
Number 2: The Atlantic – How the Beer Garden Came to Be
Seems we have the Germans to thank for being able to drink beer outside.
Number 3: BRW – Here’s this little girl making strawberry beer, she obviously doesn’t know what she’s talking about’: female brewers on the opportunity their industry is missing
Yes, that’s the frigging headline. While I totally agree with the suggestion of this story that the beer industry is enormously male-centric, may I suggest there might have been other reasons in people dismissing a beer called Strawberry Blonde? Like, the fact that sweetening beer to appeal to females has been tried and failed over and over again. And it’s just weird that the brewer of a beer flavoured with strawberry juice would criticise the big guns by saying “They come out with ciders and stuff but to me it’s all too sweet, it’s like sugar water”
Number 4: The Verge – Spoiled rotten: how breweries are trying to spot bad beer through DNA
Breweries can go to great lengths to stop bacteria from getting into their beer. And we should thank them for that.
Number 5: Beer Is Your Friend – Good Beer Week: Find Me Here
In which I list my itinerary for last year’s Good Beer Week. Of interest is the reference to getting T-shirts plugging my blog printed and plans to tweet a picture of the shirt I was wearing each day. The idea was so that people who read the blog would say hi. It failed dismally – not one person did that. So those shirts will be staying home this year.
Number 6: …And it’s not beer but you’ll like it
