Lance Cochrane from Blackhorse Brewhouse in NSW
What beer are you making for GABS?
Doing a version of our Aussie ale loaded up with finger limes and lemon myrtle.
What’s it called?
Finger Lime Ale
Where did the inspiration come from?
Last year we did a dark beer, the Dark Kolsch, so this year we wanted to go in a completely different direction. We wanted to have a fruit element because fruit can really elevate a beer.
But we also wanted to do something that not many people had tried, or even heard of, before and that’s where the finger Limes came in. We also have a new head brewer, Gerard Meares, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our beers, so this will be a great opportunity so show what he can do.
For those who might over-indulge, do you have a suggestion for a post-GABS hangover remedy?
Water to be sensible….and then a great big egg and bacon roll just because!
Finally, finish this sentence, craft beer is …
All about invention. Pushing the boundaries and going after that next flavour profile.
The Great Australasian Beer Spectapular is at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne on May 22-24 and Australian Technology Park, Sydney on May 30.
