John Stevens, Temple Brewing Company in Victoria
What’s it called?
Where did the inspiration come from?
I love dark beers and wanted to showcase something different than a stout or porter. Having the opportunity to liaise with our chef here at Temple I can get hold of a variety of different spices which I think will work perfectly with the Imperial black lager and with the addition of some newer hop varieties as well will hopefully do something fun, interesting and ultimately tasty.
For those who might over-indulge, do you have a suggestion for a post-GABS hangover remedy?
I guess the key is either just get straight back on the horse, change up and start drinking more session able styles or maybe go on a one-week detox, but I doubt anyone will take that last suggestion seriously.
Finally, finish this sentence, craft beer is …
… fun, and should remain fun, there cannot be room for people who take themselves too seriously or are in it for the wrong reason. At the end of the day we are making, drinking and talking about beer, if you can’t make that fun then time to go and do something else.
The Great Australasian Beer Spectapular is at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne on May 22-24 and Australian Technology Park, Sydney on May 30.
