GABS Brewer: Jayne Lewis from Two Birds Brewing in Yarraville, Victoria
What beer are you making for GABS?
It’s a brown ale with sesame seeds added.
Does it have a name yet?
It’s called Sesame Snap-chat, as the beer is inspired by the delicious snack, Sesame Snaps, and our love of the social media platform, Snapchat!
Where did the inspiration come from?
I actually dreamt about the recipe of the beer and brewed it in real time in my dream, so it seemed like it was something that we should turn into reality! I love Sesame Snaps and was hoping to try and capture that character in a beer.
Do you think it’ll be a one-off or are you considering adding it to the range after GABS?
It will all depend on how the beer is received by the public. And how many open letters we receive, begging for the beer’s return… 😉
What do you think of the concept of GABS?
It’s a great opportunity for brewers to let their imagination run wild and to brew a beer that they might not usually make.
The Great Australasian Beer Spectapular (aka GABS) is on in Melbourne on May 23-25, 2014.
