GABS Brewer 2016: Modus Operandi from Sydney’s northern beaches

What beer are you making for GABS? 

 We are making a foreign stout brewed with cocoa nibs from South America, cinnamon, coffee from our local roaster, vanilla beans and quite the handful of chillies from around the world!

What’s it called?

Black Magic Woman… because its going to make a devil out of you!

Where did the inspiration come from?

It is inspired by the Aztecan aphrodisiac beverage, Xocolatl (cho-co-lat-ul) – it is believed the Aztec King Montezuma II drank 50 cups of it each day to help service his harem!

Tell us why you have chosen to brew a Festival Beer for GABS

It is the one festival where breweries from Australia and the world get to express their creativity – which is always a good thing. Its important to have fun with beer and this festival allows you to do this in spades.
Finish this sentence – one thing I would like to change about craft beer is… 

 truth in labelling! People should know where their beer is made and by who. 

The Great Australasian Beer Spectapular is on May 20-22 at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton, Victoria, May 27-28 at the Australian Technology Park in Eveleigh, NSW and June 18 at ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane, Auckland.
