GABS Brewer: Behemoth Brewing Company in New Zealand
What beer are you making for GABS?
A farmhouse IPA (read Belgian IPA)
Does it have a name yet?
ROFLCOPTER Farmhouse IPA
Where did the inspiration come from?
The inspiration came from this new yeast strain I have been using and what different beers I can make from it. Also having some american hops around and different grains I can use to give the beer body and substance. It has Rye, torrified wheat, oats and a belgian malt special B. Along with big American hops and a bit of Kiwi hops aswell then to add something a bit special it has grapefruit peel which compliments the big US hops.
Do you think it’ll be a one-off or are you considering adding it to the range after GABS?
No idea if will be added to the range, but would like a Farmhouse IPA or pale ale in our range at some point.
What do you think of the concept of GABS?
Love the concept of GABS letting brewers from Australia and NZ experiment and a lot of people try beers that they may never get the chance to experience otherwise. Cheers!
The Great Australasian Beer Spectapular (aka GABS) is on in Melbourne on May 23-25, 2014.
