If today’s ad isn’t the most sexist beer ad in history, it’s at least in the top five. It’s for Brisbane Bitter and I’ll let you watch it for yourself.

Reckon they could fit any more gratuitious butt and boob shots? Me neither. And what about that bit where the riders get buckets of water thrown on them? I’ve never seen that happen in any bike race I’ve ever seen.

I do have to say that at least the makers of the ad ensured that all the ladies were wearing stackhats or something similar – though I don’t get the connection between a bike race and Brisbane Bitter at all. And it is so lovely that the winner gets a peck on the cheek, as if to say “thanks for giving us all an eyeful, love”.

You simply couldn’t make an ad like this today. Not even ironically.
